Colorado DUI Case Filings by County
DUI case filings in every Colorado county, year by year from 2019 to 2023, as the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice counts them: court cases with a DUI or DWAI charge, not arrests. See the state total by year, rank the counties for any year, compare counties, open any county for its line, and read every value in a table.

The total is the source’s own statewide figure. In some years the counties add up to a little less, because the source withholds the counts under five.
What it shows
Shows the DUI case filings in each Colorado county, year by year from 2019 to 2023, as the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice counts them: a case in the state courts or Denver County Court with at least one DUI or DWAI charge, duplicate cases removed. It counts court cases, not arrests: a DUI arrest that never becomes a court case is not in it, and a case counts once whatever it ended as. The year view shows the state total and the change from year to year, and can set up to two counties beside each other. The county view ranks every county for a year by its count, with each county’s own line beside its bar. Select a county for its figures, its rank and its share of the state. A county is where the report assigns the filing, not where the person lives, so the chart gives counts and no county rates. The report withholds counts under five, so a few small counties have gaps in some years, and the counties then add up to a little less than the state total.
How to read it
- The line is the state total, the report’s own figure (its 22 judicial districts added up). Click any year to look at that year in the county view.
- These are court cases, not arrests. A county’s filings say how many DUI cases its courts received that year, not how many drivers were stopped.
- In the county view, bars rank the counties for the chosen year by count, and the small line beside each bar is that county’s own range over all the years: compare shapes, not heights. Search narrows the list.
- There is no county rate and no ranking by rate. A county’s count is where the report assigns the filing, so it says more about where cases are filed than about who lives there.
- A count under five is withheld by the report and shown as “under 5”, not as zero. The counties then add up to a little less than the state total.
- The newest year is 2023, and the chart starts in 2019.
- Filings are not people, and the counts reflect enforcement and prosecution as well as behavior.

Coverage. DUI case filings in all 64 Colorado counties, 2019 to 2023, from Appendix B (counties) of the Division of Criminal Justice’s report “Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and Alcohol: Calendar Year 2023 Report (June 2026)”. Its 22 judicial districts (Appendix D) add up to the report’s statewide totals (Table 2) in every year, and the counties add up to the districts apart from the counts under five the report withholds.
- 1.6
Caveat. Case filings, not arrests. The Division counts a case in the state courts or Denver County Court that has at least one DUI or DWAI charge, with duplicate cases removed (cases filed twice in error, misdemeanors re-filed as felonies, duplicate tickets, consolidated cases). A DUI arrest that never becomes a court case is not counted, and a case counts once whatever it ended as.
- 1.7
Caveat. A county is the county the report assigns the filing to, not where the person lives. The report prints all 64 counties for every year here.

Caveat. Counts under five are withheld in the report and are empty here, not zero: Cheyenne 2019, Hinsdale 2019 and 2020, San Juan 2023, Sedgwick 2022. Because of them the counties can add up to a little less than the statewide total. The site does not work the withheld counts out from the totals.
- 1.9
Caveat. The newest year is 2023: the Division published its report for it in June 2026. Say the year next to every number.
- 1.10
Caveat. The Colorado Judicial Branch’s own annual report counts something narrower, by state fiscal year (July to June): DUI and DWAI filings of the county court class, 15,227 for fiscal year 2023 against the Division’s 20,878 for calendar year 2023. The two are different series and are not mixed here.
- 1.11
Caveat. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s crime statistics portal prints a different count again, DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies (16,294 in 2024). It counts reports, not court filings, and says the current year is not comparable with earlier years. It is not used here.
- 1.12
Caveat. Populations are the Census Bureau’s July 1, 2023 estimates (Vintage 2025), one figure for every year. No county gets a rate.
